The city of Bragança
Bragança. A city, a municipality and the capital of the "Tras-os-montes" region of Portugal.
We've mentioned some of the region's highlights in our blog before (check out our post about Vinhais) but today we focus on the city: Bragança.
Recently (26/03/203), the city erected a monument to one of the most famous motorcycle roads in Portugal, the N103.
This road, which inter-connects the North of Portugal all the way from Viana do Castelo to Bragança, has been declared as one of the most famous roads in Portugal to do on a motorcycle. Many two wheelers take this pilgrimage and embark on an adventure through this road. It is great seeing the city acknowledge the value of these secondary roads as source of tourism flow into the city and it's associated value.
A mandatory place for those who complete (or start) the journey, this landmark marks one of the ends of this fantastic road. It is then expected that many people will want to take meaningful pictures of their travels, and this will surely be one of them.
Bragança, as a city, is gaining momentum as a motorcyclist destination. There are several reasons why, but we highlight 5 main reasons:
Scenic Roads: Bragança's winding roads offer breathtaking views of the countryside, mountains, and medieval castles, making it a paradise for motorcycle enthusiasts.
Cultural Heritage: Bragança is home to many historical landmarks, including the Domus Municipalis, the Castle of Bragança, and the Igreja de Santa Maria, which offer an insight into the city's rich cultural heritage.
Gastronomy: Bragança's traditional cuisine is a treat for foodies, with specialties such as posta mirandesa, a succulent steak, and many different types of traditionally smoked meats are some of the region's highlights.
Outdoor Activities: Bragança's natural landscapes offer plenty of opportunities for outdoor activities, such as hiking, biking, and camping, making it an ideal destination for adventure seekers.
Friendly Locals: The locals in Bragança are known for their hospitality and warmth, making it easy for visitors to feel at home and create lasting memories.
A mandatory place for every road-trip in Portugal
We can all agree that Portugal is trending. Many visit us because of the southern beaches, the nightlife of Lisbon or to see the city of Porto. We think that this is like passing by the store fronts in a shopping center and not entering. Yes, you do see the highlights, but did you truly experience it?
We truly believe the north of Portugal allows you to dive deeper: See the nature, meet the locals, breathe the freshest air, see the stars like never before or swim in rivers of the purest water... All of this, achievable via a small motorcycle. Sounds like your type of vacation? Let us know!
Also, in case you are looking for a motorcycle storehouse in Portugal: we can keep your motorcycle in our store in Bragança for free. If it fits through the door (90cm) and if we have space, you can store it here for free! Let us know if this is something you'd be interested in
